Clear the Path

Card: “Clear the Path”
From: Trust Your Vibes by Sonia Choquette

Your path to happiness should be an easy ride. Is the path you’re following cluttered? Is there anything keeping you back from being happy? What is its importance (if any)? Were they put there by the ‘old’ you, and therefore put there by old thinking? Is your old thinking holding you back? I think that if we look at some of those things holding us back, we’ll come to realize that some of them have no place in our lives. Shine the light of scrutiny on them and see them disappear.

Clear the path to your happiness!

Have a great day!

Love,
Val

Get Grounded

Card: “Get Grounded”
From: Trust Your Vibes by Sonia Choquette

Grounding is about connecting with the earth and our earthly bodies. It’s similar to the importance of a grounding wire in a electrical plug. Often when we meditate or daydream we become less ‘grounded’ as we connect with the spirit world. We may feel lightheaded and dreamy. While it’s good to be dreamy when you’re daydreaming or meditating, it’s not so good when you’re doing an important task like cooking or driving. As for cooking, take it from me, it’s good to be grounded. I am very ‘clumsy’ in the kitchen but I’ve come to realize that it’s just because I’m not grounded in what I’m doing and I’m not grounded to the earth. I’m going to start grounding myself every time I start to prepare something in the kitchen. I’ll save a lot of band-aids, for sure! :-)

There are a few ways to get grounded, but my favourite was taught to me by my first spiritual teacher, Holly Poole, of Healing in Motion: http://www.healinginmotion.com/ Holly’s technique for grounding is quite simple, and as with most spiritual and psychic things, it’s about intent. To use Holly’s technique, all you do is move your arm in a sweeping downward motion, like you’re slamming a book on a table, but follow through to the extent of your arm. Move your arm in this fashion three times and each time say ‘I am grounded’ at the same time you’re doing the movement. This always works for me.

The next time you feel ‘out of touch’ or feel like you’ve got your ‘head in the clouds’, try this grounding exercise, and notice how you feel afterwards.

Have a great, grounding day!

Love,
Val ♥

Hello from Heaven

Card: “Hello from Heaven”
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue

On the card: “Archangel Azrael: ‘Your loved ones in Heaven are doing fine.  Let go of worries, and feel their loving blessings.’”

Isn’t it great to get confirmation that your loved ones who have passed on are doing fine and sending you loving blessings?  Even though I don’t believe in ‘heaven’ in the religious sense, I do believe that our souls go to a better place.  And I do believe that we have spirits/angels watching over us.

Today, look for subtle signs that there are loving, positive spirits around us, helping us when we need it.

Don’t worry.  All is well.

Love,
Val ♥

Healthy Lifestyle

Card: “Healthy Lifestyle”
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue

On the card: “Archangel Raphael: ‘Eat a healthful diet, get adequate sleep, and exercise regularly for optimal health.’”

What a great card for me to pull today.  I needed a little nudge to get back on track.  What about you?  Are you eating healthily, getting adequate sleep and exercising (if you’re able to)?  I say ‘if you’re able to’ because sometimes health issues preclude us from regular exercise.  I went through a period where I had to limit my walking/activity (including housework) to 15 minutes a day.  I was building up my tolerance to exercise, and I’m glad to say it worked.  By taking that time of ‘no exercise’, and gradually adding a tiny bit of activity, I have successfully adapted so that I can now walk vigorously for an hour a day with little to no negative effects.

I’m also going on vacation soon, so I’m going to have to concentrate on healthful eating.  The food is going to be tempting, but I’ll have to be strong.  And I will be strong.

In the winter, a lot of our good habits and intentions go out the window.  What can you do today to help you get back to a healthy lifestyle?

How is your sleeping?  Are you getting adequate rest?  I’ve recently discovered that ‘REST is BEST’.  When we have our bodies and minds in a constant high state of energy and activity, like so many of us in today’s busy world, our body goes into overdrive and puts off repair and restoration.  We have to purposefully take time to rest so that our body can come down from the heightened state and resume normal body and mind maintenance.  If we keep putting off rest, our bodies and minds will just keep going and eventually have some kind of ‘burn-out’.  Whether that ‘burn-out’ is a physical event like a cold or flu, or a mental event like depression, we can ward off most negative events if we take adequate breaks and rest well.  It is especially important in today’s busy world.

Today, remember: REST is BEST.

Love,
Val ♥

Brilliant Idea!

Card: “Brilliant Idea!”
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue

On the card: “Archangel Uriel: ‘Yes, your idea is Divinely guided…please take action to bring your idea to fruition.

How nice it is to receive confirmation that your idea is divinely guided!  Have you been thinking about whether something is a good idea or not?  Well, this is your cue to get started.

When I’m trying to decide whether an idea is a good one or not, I really concentrate on how each choice makes me feel.  I think about each of the outcomes and see if it feels good.  Your soul knows the best answer to any question.

Don’t procrastinate.  I just read a quote today from someone named Karen Lamb: “A year from now you may wish you had started today.”  I love it!  I’m thinking about all the things I could have been farther along with if I had started them a year ago. And now I’m thinking about the projects I can start today.

The possibilities are endless – so start something today!

Val ♥

Rejoice in Celebration

Card: “Rejoice in Celebration”
From: The Psychic Tarot by John Holland

Rejoicing is a great way to lighten your mood.  It brings light and love to your soul.  And even though not everything in our lives is joyful doesn’t mean we can’t rejoice in the small things.

Your soul gets bogged down when all you do is worry about things.  Stop worrying.  Start rejoicing.  Rejoice at the smaller things, too, such as a nice note from a friend, a bird in a tree, a plant in your house, or even your favourite song coming on the radio.  When you bring more celebration into your life you’ll have more to celebrate.  Rejoicing is like gratitude.  You’re recognizing the positiveness of something and you’re drawing attention to it.  I think it is impossible to be rejoiceful without gratitude.

Celebrate life with friends.  Having a jovial time will bring more joy to your heart.  And maybe even have a little dance!  Try listening to this video of Kool and The Gang's Celebration and not tap your toes (get up and dance!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GwjfUFyY6M

And in those immortal words of Cool and The Gang:

"It's up to you, what's your pleasure...
Come on and celebrate, good times, tonight
'Cause everything's gonna be all right
Let's celebrate"

Today, celebrate the little things!

Val ♥

Sun

Card: “Sun”
From: “Easy Astrology Oracle Cards by Maya White

The sun is a very important and powerful astrological influence.  Your zodiac sign is determined by where the sun was when you were born, and that sign is also referred to as your sun sign.

If you’ve often read your horoscope and it doesn’t sound quite right, that is because your astrological chart has many influences and the sun (and therefore your sun sign/zodiac sign), is just the starting point.  Even though the sun is a very powerful object, it also influences and is influenced by the moon, the other planets and other astrological objects.  You are composite of many traits and influences of varying strength.

A birthday is referred to a ‘solar return’.  It is when the sun has returned to the same location as it was on the day you were born.  I find that on my solar return I can feel an increase of energy in my soul.  For me, it is a time of renewal.

The sun represents where we shine in terms of our personality and skills.  It represents our personal power and creativity and our conscious mind.

Can you feel a burning desire inside to just be ‘you’?  Can you feel a surge of personal power and creativity?  This could be the sun’s influence on you.  The sun wants you to shine.

Today, harness the sun’s energy and let ‘you’ shine!

Val ♥

Seek Solitude and Take Your Time

Cards: “Seek Solitude” and “Take Your Time”
From: Trust Your Vibes by Sonia Choquette

Today I pulled the “Seek Solitude” card, which I had just pulled on January 18, which was 11 days ago.  Here is the original post: Seek Solitude  It’s interesting that the only other repeat card was pulled 11 days previous, too.  Eleven is a magical number.  I’ll have to ponder why I’m getting cards again 11 days later.  I like synchronicity!  It helps me to know what I should focus on.  And I just remembered that just two days ago I gave all decks a good shuffle.  So what a coincidence, eh?

Since I pulled a repeat card, I decided to pull another card to augment the first card’s message, and to help clarify why the card was chosen a second time.  The second card was “Take Your Time”.

Seeking solitude is not only about being alone, it is also about rest.  We are going through some stressful times full of growth and in order for our brains and bodies to keep up with this growth we should take some quiet time to be by ourselves either to reflect or to just rest.

Take time to work through these periods of new growth.  We can all take our time because there is no rush.  But if ‘taking time’ becomes avoidance through procrastination, then we should take a look at the reason why.  I also talk about procrastination in my You Know What To Do post.

Wow, a partial rainbow just formed as I’m looking out my window.  I can see a snow flurry squall quickly coming my way, too.  But it’s not quite reaching me.  The rainbow is getting stronger.  It’s been less than five minutes, and the flurry squall is dissipating.  I look out onto a harbour, and the squall moved up the harbour very quickly towards me but then seemed to be held back by the rainbow about three kilometers away.  The flurry squall never reached me.  I’ve lived in this place for almost a year, and I’ve never seen a rainbow in that direction ever before.  There is a message in the rainbow vs. flurries event.  I really feel it means that love keeps the nasties away.  It’s been about 10 minutes now, and the squall is completely gone, and there’s blue sky out there now.

We may see the trouble coming, and we may experience some of it, but after all is said and done there will be glorious blue sky after it’s gone.

Today, allow the love, the rainbow, the sun, take away the ‘squalls’ in your life.

Love,
Val ♥

Aquarius

Card: AquariusFrom: Easy Astrology Oracle Cards by Maya White

Aquarius, January 20 – February 18, is a constellation and one of the 12 zodiac signs.  Amethyst is the gem associated with Aquarius and the ruling planet(s) are Saturn and/or Uranus (there is some disagreement in the astrology community).

Most of the astrology oracle cards deal with topics that are so immense entire books have been written about them, and it’s a bit difficult to write a short blog post.  Aquarius is one of those topics, so I’ll do my best to illustrate a few important aspects.

Aquarius represents humanitarian efforts, individuality, knowledge, invention, honesty, loyalty, and communication.  Aquarians are usually humanitarian-minded and generally want to make the world a better place.  With the sun currently in the Aquarius, this sign’s influences may be felt around the world so keep an eye out for changes on the humanitarian or communication fronts.

For a limited time, I am offering a free astrology natal chart and interpretation to the followers of this blog.  On the right hand side you will see a “Follow by email” box.  Please enter your email and within a day or two I will contact you to ask you for your birth date and place, and time if available.  I won’t need your full name, just your first name or a nickname.

Today, think about your Aquarian friends and relatives.  Do you have any unfinished business with them?  Are there any ways today that you can make the world a better place, even for just one person?

Have a great day!

Val ♥

Sacrifice

Card: “Sacrifice”
From: The Psychic Tarot by John Holland

Sacrifice doesn’t have to be a negative experience. I think going without or losing something opens up an area for a new thing to come into our lives. Or perhaps it will bring new skills or opportunities. It is like giving up the ‘same old, same old’ way of doing things. We learn new ways of doing things, or even how to do without. Some spiritual people think money is the bane of all evil, but I don’t share that opinion. I think money is a great tool for having the kind of life and opportunities that we all desire and are entitled to. The Universe is abundant, and we all can have the money and things we need and want to make our lives easier.

This card is about release and it prompts us to ask ourselves to look at those things, thoughts or traits that you think is time to release. It may be something or someone you depend on, but that is ok. You will be fine. The potential rewards will be great!

Have a great day!

South Node

Card: “South Node”
From: Easy Astrology Oracle Cards by Maya White

Today I pulled (randomly chose) the South Node card, which I also pulled on January 15, which was only 11 days ago.  It’s always quite interesting when coincidences occur and some people prefer to call it serendipity. Here’s a link to the first post, which also gives us some background on the moon’s nodes: http://valaday.blogspot.com/2012/01/south-node.html.

A few statistics:
-     This is my 22nd blog post
-     I am using 5 decks of cards, representing 280 individual cards
-     3 times I’ve shuffled each deck individually, rearranged the order of the decks, then I put them in a special purple box and every day I reach in without looking and choose a card.

So it really is quite incredible that I’ve chosen this card again so soon. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so we must have to revisit what the south node means, and how we can use it. So let’s take a closer look.

One thing the South Node represents is what personality traits we have that are overdeveloped.  What traits do you have that you wish you didn’t have?  Those are probably the ones that are overdeveloped and limiting your growth in other areas.  Don’t just think of the outward traits - intense shyness and negative self-talk are overdeveloped traits.  Negative self-talk may represent being too critical of one’s self.  We are here to learn and to grow, so let yourself do these things without judgement, only observation and use those observations to create change.

Having overdeveloped traits also means we have more to learn about those particular traits.  So maybe our particular traits aren’t overdeveloped but instead we just have to learn how to use them differently.   What can you learn about your particular traits?  How can you use them differently?

Perhaps you’ve already been working on changing your personality so that you are more at peace and more in balance.  I know that I have made some progress in some areas, but I’m sure I have more work to do in others.

Where have you made progress?  It’s important to recognize our accomplishments, so today, give yourself praise for doing something good for yourself.

Val ♥

Financial and Material Changes

Card: Financial and Material Changes (card #5 in the 'Physical' suit)
From: The Psychic Tarot by John Holland

Changes are coming, and whether those changes are perceived as ‘good’ or ‘bad’, doesn’t negate the fact that all change is good.  It gives us a chance to learn and grow.  And remember, even if something is perceived as ‘bad’, it is not because it is punishment.

A lot of people are fearful of change.  But I think this just slows them down and limits their experiences.  Yes, they might be safer, but at what cost?  The cost of not changing will always be higher than the cost of changing.  (Well, unless you’re changing the wallpaper, then it’ll cost more because you have to buy new wallpaper ;-))

Embrace the changes that are coming to your life and recognize them as gifts.  If you happen to lose something physical, recognize that this is just clearing the way for something even better to come into your life.  If there is no room in your life, then as new things come to you, you will feel overwhelmed and ‘crowded’.  So make room for the gifts that are coming to you.

Remember, change is good.

Val ♥

Peace

Card: “Peace”
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D

On the card: “Archangel Chamuel: ‘Peace comes from remembering that only love is real.’”

Some people believe that our reality is only an illusion, and that we are spiritual beings living a human existence so that we can learn from experience.  If this was the case, that it is all an illusion, then everything we saw and experienced would be a manifestation of our higher selves (or perhaps other higher beings).  But what about love?  Surely that cannot be a manifestation.  We feel it.  We feel it in our souls.  It is a base emotion.  So let’s say that love is not an illusion.  Then what Archangel Chamuel says makes sense – love is the only thing that is real.  Everything else is an illusion.

Therefore, we can achieve peace if we see our reality for what it is – an illusion.

The next time you are experiencing a trial or tribulation, step back from your conscious self and see what experience or lesson you are gaining from that situation.  If we distance ourselves from the drama of illusion, we will learn the lessons more easily and have a better, more peaceful existence.

Now the Christian saying “Peace be with you” can take on a whole different meaning.

Today, may peace be with you.

Love,
Val ♥

Call on Your Angels

Card: “Call on Your Angels”
From: Trust Your Vibes Oracle cards by Sonia Choquette

I often call on my angels for mundane and trivial things, but I probably don’t call on them often enough for the bigger things.  Perhaps it’s because I believe there are different ‘levels’ of angels, and I’m ok with asking the lower levels for help, but I think the higher angels are working on more important things.  I should change that thought and believe that I am important and the things that I am asking for help with are important.

My favourite time-tested way to ask my angels for help is to call on the parking angels.  If you know me, and you’ve been with me in a car, then you’ve most likely experienced the prowess of my parking angels.  They work really well for me!  So many times I have found the most perfect parking space.  You can call on your parking angels any time you need them.  All you have to do is ask!  I find that the more specific I am with my request, the more often I find the most perfect space.  For instance, I have asked: “Angels, I would like to have the parking space that is directly in front of x shop, please”.  In the early days of my ‘testing’ whether the parking angels were there to help me, I often also asked for there to be money left on the parking meter.  When that started working all the time, I started asking for specific time on the meter.  I had quite a bit of luck asking for 40 minutes.  I need to take that confidence I have in the parking angels and use it to call on the other angels.  It will work for both you and I.

Have a great day!

Val ♥

Listen to Your Heart

Card: “Listen to Your Heart”
From: Trust Your Vibes by Sonia Choquette

We all know the importance of listening to our feelings, but I think that listening to your heart is not only referring to your emotional feelings but also to the physical feelings of your heart.  The physical heart area is also the area for the heart chakra which is believed to be a channel to our higher self or our soul.

You’ve all probably noticed an aching in your heart area when you are very upset.  Next time you are incredibly happy, see if you can sense any kind of physical feeling in your heart area. I think if we pay attention to the subtleties of the changes of heart feeling we can better help ourselves with decision making and self-care.  What if our heart could help guide us to making better choices?  That would be an incredible gift.

Listening to our heart emotionally and physically will help us to balance what our head is telling us.

Have a great day!

Val ♥

Balance

Card: “Balance”
From: The Psychic Tarot by John Holland

Balance.  We can all use a bit more balance in our lives.  But what really is balance?  That’s an interesting question.  I just thought about what I would consider more balance in my life and I can’t think of anything.  Does that mean my life is in balance?   Hmmm, I’m not sure.

The card is John Holland’s version of the traditional “Justice” card.  The card shows the symbols from the four traditional tarot suits: wands, pentacles, cups and swords.  Those suits represent career (projects), emotions (relationships), challenges (intellect), and the physical world (money, resources).  Are these things all in balance in your life?  Do you place more importance on some areas of your life and not enough on others?

We could look at this card as it relates to making choices.  Are the choices you make each day being made using a balanced approach, or do you place more emphasis on certain things in your life.

Today, look at the choices you are making and decide whether you could bring a more balanced approach to your decision making.

Have a great day!

Love,
Val ♥

Breathe

Card: “Breathe”
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.

On the card: “Archangel Raphael: ‘Take several deep breaths, and exhale slowly to awaken your energy and to release old patterns.’”

Ah, breathing.  We don’t often pay attention to it, but when we do, it has the power to bring calmness and enables us to be better centered.  In this busy world, breathing is a fabulous tool for helping us get through our busy and sometimes stressful days.

And what about old patterns?  Many, if not all of us, have old patterns that we want to be rid of.  Next time we think of a trait that we want to change, take a few deep breaths and envision that trait disappearing into the air you are breathing out.  Also, the next time you become aware that you are breathing deeply or sighing, take a moment to think about what made you sigh and envision that stress evaporating.  I don’t often dwell on the negative things, but perhaps I should take a few moments, do some deep breathing and focus on those negative things and let them dissipate into the air and allow them to be filled with positive energy.

Have a great day!

Love,
Val ♥

Seek Solitude

Card: “Seek Solitude”
From: Trust Your Vibes Oracle Cards by Sonia Choquette

It’s ok to spend time just by yourself, and it is actually great for your spirit. You can do anything that you like such as read, write or meditate, or just sit or lay quietly with your thoughts. Spending time by yourself is good for clearing the mind and soul, and it can be good for the body if you incorporate stretching or purposeful body relaxation. A nice idea might be a bubble bath. We need to have some clear space and time from noise and action.

Often when our lives get so full and busy we avoid spending time by ourselves. We sometimes feel our world is better when there is lots of chaos around us. And sometimes we may feel uneasy spending quiet time alone. We don’t want to be alone with our thoughts. We don’t want to spend time working on ourselves. But we are the ones who can benefit the most by quiet alone time.

A lot of people feel awkward when they go to a movie or out for a nice dinner by themselves. They feel like other people might think they have no friends, or are otherwise somewhat weird. But, who cares what people think? It is generally the best course of action to not place much importance on what others think.

What a great gift it is to truly enjoy spending time with ones’ self. The gift of peace and contentment.

Have a great day!

Call on Your Healer Guides

Card: “Call on Your Healer Guides”
From: Trust Your Vibes Oracle Cards by Sonia Choquette

Everyone has spirit guides.  Some people refer to them as angels, or even guardian angels.  There is a belief that some guides and angels have specific ‘jobs’ to do.  I truly believe I have parking angels.  And when I ask the parking angels for assistance, I do so knowing that I am not taking them away from any more important task.  They are there to help me when I need them, and when I ask.  They won’t always help you if you don’t ask.

So today, and every day, ask your healer guides to help heal what ails you.  Whether it be emotional, spiritual, physical or mental distress, they are there to help you.  But only if you ask.  Ask and believe you are going to receive the healing.  And as always, do so with gratitude.

If you would like to send healing to another person, ask your healer guides to join with theirs to make the healing happen.

Happy healing!

Love,
Val

What Do You Love?

Card: “What Do You Love?”
From: Trust Your Vibes by Sonia Choquette

It is really important to sit back and take inventory of what or who you love.  Love is very similar to gratitude.  The more you acknowledge love and are thankful for it, the more love will come into your life.

There is also the aspect of making your life better by doing more things that you love.  Taking inventory of the things that you enjoy can help illustrate where you’ve gone astray.  For instance, if you love horseback riding, but you haven’t been on a horse in 20 years, then that is one passion that you’ve let escape from your life.  Just think about how fun it would be to go horseback riding again.  (You could invite me, too!)

Which things or people in your 'love' inventory can you re-introduce into your life?

Here are a few examples:

Reading
Writing
Arithmetic  (just joking - who loves arithmetic!)
Photography
Poetry
Painting
Drawing
Volunteering
Walking
Exercising
Playing a musical instrument
Traveling
Visiting friends
Meditating
Taking a bubble bath

Today, make a list of the things and people that you love.  Express gratitude for having those in your life and try to re-introduce the missing.  It is important to have enjoyment in your life so that you can have a better life and be of better service to others.  And it will be fun!

Have a fun day!

Love,
Val ♥

South Node

Card: “South Node”
From: Easy Astrology Oracle Cards by Maya White

The South Node, along with the North Node, is a ‘Node of the Moon’. The nodes are non-physical points in your horoscope, or chart, that are calculated by the position of the sun and moon in relation to the earth at the time of your birth (or another specified time).

The South Node is both mathematically and thematically opposite to the North Node. The South Node represents what personality traits we have that are overdeveloped, and the North Node represents the qualities we are lacking and will want to develop more. So on one side we have our strong, or overbearing, traits and on the other we have the traits we need to work on. I think the trick to a happier life is to bring them into more of a balance.

Don’t let your usual overbearing traits influence you too much. Look at the qualities that you’ve always wished you had more of and work on them, for they are probably represented by where your North Node is in your chart. There are sites on the web you can use to calculate where your nodes are, or if you run into a problem, write a comment below and I’ll calculate it for you.

I look at the nodes as a brother and sister. One is overbearing and takes charge at the expense of the other. It is up for the other to overcome the overbearing one, and rise up to the challenge. It is often easier and less scary for the less-overbearing one to let the other take the driver’s seat. But at what cost? The less-overbearing one will have little, if any, development in certain areas. So while it might be easier to let the South Node rule your world, you’ll have more peace, happiness and balance if you work on the weaker traits that you’d benefit from having more of.

I think another way to help these nodes come into balance is by doing something outside of your comfort zone. I’ve read many times that doing one new thing a day brings many rewards. One a day can be a bit daunting, so for now I challenge you, and me, to do one new thing over the next week. And let us reap the rewards.

Love,
Val ♥

You Know What to Do

Card: “You Know What to Do”
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.

On the card: “Archangel Uriel: ‘Trust your inner knowledge, and act upon it without delay.’”

The Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue must have lots of positive energy because even though I choose a random card each day for this site, five out of 11 cards I’ve chosen from my selection of five decks have been the Archangel cards. I do really like those cards, but I like the other ones as well. And I’m sure it’s no coincidence that this is happening.

We all have inner knowledge, but this knowledge is really only useful if we act upon it. If we use our inner knowledge to help us decide to stop or start something then we’re listening to our inner self and believing that information to be true. I really think that if that information feels right we can trust it to be right.

So we know what to do. Today, listen to your inner guidance and use that knowledge without delay. Is there something you have been putting off? I know that it takes energy to put something off. Procrastination takes energy. We find ourselves thinking about it time and time again, but we still find reasons not to follow through at that particular time. Why are we delaying? How are we benefitting from not doing it now? If there is no benefit, why delay it?

Today, and all days, listen to your inner guidance, and purposefully choose to use that knowledge without delay. And if you are going to put it off, really think about why you’re not doing it right now. If there is not a valid reason for not doing it right now, then get your butt in gear and do it. Think about how good you will start feeling if you create a habit of acting without delay. I wish you luck.

I know you can do it!

Love,
Val ♥

Remember Who You Are

Card: “Remember Who You Are”
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.

On the card: “Archangel Michael: ‘You are a powerful, loving, and creative child of God. You are very loved.’”

This is something that we all might have to tell ourselves every single day. Perhaps we should start out each day by looking in the mirror and saying to ourselves: “I am powerful, creative and loving, and I am very loved”. We need to remember that we are good people. And if that means we have to tell ourselves this every day, then so be it. I bet that eventually we won’t have to say it to ourselves, we will just feel it and know it to be an absolute truth. How great would that be! To know that we are great people! Wouldn’t it be great to not have that little (mean) voice inside us telling us we’re not great at all? Wow, that would feel good. Just imagine what kind of day we will have when we truly believe in the goodness of ourselves.

So today, remember that you are a great person and you are loved.

Have a great, powerful day!
Love,
Val ♥

The fifth house

January 12, 2012
Card: “House #5”
From: Easy Astrology Oracle Cards by Maya White

First, a very brief introduction. In astrology, think of a chart (or horoscope) as a map that shows where the sun, planets and other objects are at a particular time such as a world event, or a birthday. That map is divided up into twelve sections called houses, and each house governs a particular area or category of life such as communication, beginnings, and long-distance travel.

House #5 is the house of creativity, pleasure, sex, personal freedom and self-expression, and it is ruled by Leo (July 23-August 22).

The fifth house is also considered the house of manifestation of desires. Whatever we desire will be manifested. So it is kinda like the Law of Attraction and using your ability to manifest the kind of life that you want. What is it that you want? I believe that our own manifestation only happens when we are clear about our wants and desires. I occasionally write a list of the things I would like in my life. I am a true believer in the power behind the law of attraction. It has absolutely worked for me. Have you ever written a list of your wants and desires?

Daydreaming seems to go hand-in-hand with the fifth house. You’re using creativity, manifestation, pleasure, personal freedom and probably even self-expression. What do you daydream about? Daydreaming is awesome. You open your mind up to the infinite possibilities of life. Daydream away!

Creative self-expression. How do you express yourself creatively? Do you do any crafts? Or perhaps poetry or photography? I think it is important to have an outlet for creativity. I’ve bought a few colouring books over the years to help me be creative, without feeling the pressure to be artistic. I will fully admit, though, that I didn’t have much luck with follow-through, lol. Perhaps it’s time for me to buy another colouring book or sketch pad and some nice colour pencils.

Happy daydreaming!

Val ♥

Passion Ignited

Card: “Passion Ignited”
From: The Psychic Tarot by John Holland

Passion. What are you passionate about? Are you passionate about something, or maybe someone? What if we were passionate about ourselves? A lot of us despise vain people and therefore shun all personal qualities related to vanity. I think passion about one’s self is not about vanity. It is about living a good life and being of service to others.

If you feel good about yourself, you are a better source of positive energy for the world. A lot of us suffer from low self-esteem. We feel we are not good enough. We feel others are better. But what if we were passionate about ourselves? How could that better enable us to be of service to others and be a source of positive energy?

What if we could accept the fact that by being passionate about ourselves, we are actually being less vain. I’m not sure if that made any sense, but for some reason I felt like writing it. I’m not sure where it came from. Perhaps self-passion is nothing like vanity. Vanity is superficial. Passion comes from our heart and soul. It is non-pretentious. It is divine. And how can anything divine be negative?

Today be passionate about yourself. You are a great person. You are here to do powerful work. The passion you feel for yourself will radiate out into the world as positive energy. And remember, being passionate about yourself is not being vain. I want you to sit down and write a list of at least 100 things about yourself that can fuel your passion. Simple things like your smile, your eyes, your empathy. Don’t purposefully make the list neat, because that’s just perfection. Just jot down (or type into the computer) everything that comes to your mind. If you feel you can’t think of any more, then just put it away for a bit and come back to it when you think of more. I’m going to start my list right now.

Have a great day!

Love,
Val ♥

Follow-up: I just took some time and came up with 50 things. 100 is going to take a bit of time to come up with, but I'm going to work on it throughout the day. How did you do?

Queen of Cups

Card: Queen of Cups
From: The Gilded Tarot by Ciro Marchetti

The queen of cups is a very beautiful lady with a lot of things going on inside. Today’s message is again about relationships. One of the things the queen of cups represents is matureness in relationships, but she can also be prone to obsession. I think obsession means really, really wanting something that you either cannot have, or is always seeming elusive. Obsession is an interesting thing because it seems like it is coming from nowhere, although there are seemingly solid reasons behind it. Perhaps those reasons are the fulfilling of a need, or the attempted healing of a long-past hurt. The need to feel ‘easy’ with ourselves is very great, and that can be what we are striving for when we obsess about something. We want to have that ‘easy’ feeling and are looking for ways to find it.

The queen can be mature and reflective. Perhaps the reflection we should look at today is our own. What are we truly being obsessive about? Is it a rational obsession? Is it something that we can actually get, or will it be eternally elusive. If something is eternally elusive, doesn’t that mean our obsession with it is a bit irrational? And if we truly can’t have it, why do we want it so much?

That is the question for today – why do we want it so much?

Are you feeling obsessed about anything right now? Do you know what fuels that obsession? I also think that sometimes we can get a bit messed up and be obsessed about something we already have. For instance, we can be obsessed about having a great relationship, but we actually already have a great relationship. But our obsession is leading us astray and causing us inner turmoil.

The Queen of cups can be one who nurtures another. Is the root of our obsession based on the need to please others?

Perhaps the next time we are feeling obsessed we can figure out where that energy is coming from and change that energy into something positive and become fulfilled instead. Be fulfilled instead of obsessed.

I wish you great fulfillment today!

Love,
Val ♥

Life Review

Card: “Life Review”
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.

On the card: “Archangel Jeremiel: ‘Take inventory of your life, and resolve to change or heal anything that is imbalanced.’”

Well, this is the third day in a row for an Archangel card to be chosen randomly. Coincidence? No, not a chance, since I don’t believe in coincidences when it comes to tarot/psychic guidance cards. They are telling a story. And their timing is directly related to what’s going on in our lives.

So, Life Review. Most people at the beginning of the year and also around their birthdays take an inventory of their life, and where they are in it. So now is a perfect time to look at one’s life.

Have you accomplished everything you wanted to get done within the past year? Is there anything that you have started that could be moving along a little faster? What about the things you’ve yet to start?

There is also the physical inventory of our ‘stuff’. I’d say that most of us have too much ‘stuff’ in our lives. Is now the time to release some of our excess ‘stuff’?

Perhaps make a list of what you’d still like to get done. It’s important not to get down on yourself if you think you are not where you would like to be. Keep it upbeat and positive, and know that you are capable of doing a good job. You are doing a good job. You’re doing the best that you can.

Perfectionism often keeps us from achieving our goals, since we feel if we can’t do it perfectly at this time, then ‘now’ is not the right time to do it. I’m always waiting for the perfect time. Are you? Could now be the perfect time for taking on an imperfect task? And in the end, when you complete the task, if it’s done – is it really imperfect? If it’s done, it’s done. And if it’s done – that’s ‘great’! So should we be striving for greatness rather than perfection? I think we might be onto something! Are there ways in your life, where you’d usually be going for ‘perfect’, but that you can strive for ‘great’ instead? Is it easier to be ‘great’ than to be ‘perfect’? And are there various degrees of greatness rather than just one degree of perfection?

Today, instead of just looking at what you haven’t done yet, look at what you have accomplished and thank yourself for being so ‘great’!

Have an awesome day!
Love,
Val ♥

Relationship Harmony

Card: “Relationship Harmony”
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.

From the card: Archangel Raguel: ‘We angels are opening the hearts of everyone involved. Arguments and conflicts are being resolved now.’”

It’s always great to know that there are angels watching over us, especially when we’re going through any difficult time. Even if it is a simple misunderstanding, know that the angels are watching and working to resolve any problems.

Have you ever noticed how it feels to have the weight lifted after something you’ve been worried about, such as an argument, gets resolved? Perhaps that is the angels love that we are feeling. The ‘warm and tingly’ feelings we feel could be the love that we are receiving. The warmth that comes from such great energy as an angel’s love.

I believe that sometimes the turmoil that we go through will actually bring us more light and love. But I don’t think we have to go through turmoil to receive light and love. The light and the love are there for the taking. We just have to open to receive it, and recognize it when it comes. I’m also developing a belief that when we recognize the positive energy coming into our life, like an angel’s love, and we express gratitude for it, we will attract more positive energy into our life. Recognition and gratitude go hand in hand. You can’t have gratitude for a specific thing without recognition. But we all can express gratitude.

Today, I am grateful that arguments and misunderstandings are being resolved with the angels' help.

Love,
Val ♥

Counselor

January 7, 2012
Card: Counselor
From: Archangel Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.

On the card: “Archangel Azrael: ‘You are a natural counselor, and many people benefit from your guidance and reassurance.’”

Interesting card for me, today, since just yesterday I mentioned to a friend that I was waiting to publicize my blog until I gained some more confidence. I know that I have felt many times over the years that I have helped someone feel better – how about you? Have you felt that you have a gift of guidance and reassurance? I bet you have.

I think we all have a desire to help, although the ways in which we do help can differ quite a bit. Even a smile from a stranger is enough to help someone through the day. So take a chance the next time you’re in public - flash a smile at someone and see how they react. One of my favourite things to do when I’m out for a walk is smiling at the people walking towards me. Oftentimes, the person is a senior citizen who is pleasantly surprised at my ‘hello!’ and my smile. And I tell you, what a great sight it is to see when a person with a blank or glum look on their face smiles back at you and their whole face lights up. I know that the little smile I gave them has brightened their day. I’d like to think that it tells them that someone cares, and it has made their day better. I have been on the receiving end of many random smiles, and they have undoubtedly brightened my days.

Sometimes, people just need a little reassurance that they are worthwhile, or that they are doing the right thing. Even a little reassurance can go a long way, and it has a snowball effect. Its effect reverberates into the different levels of our mind, body and soul. If someone is lacking self-confidence, a kind word of reassurance can go a long way in increasing their self-worth.

So, I ask again, because I think I know the answer: Do you think you are a natural counselor?

Have a great day!
Love,
Val ♥

Pluto

Card: Pluto
From: “Easy Astrology Oracle Cards” by Maya White

My thoughts: Pluto signifies transformation and renewal, and it’s assistance can sometimes be jolting. It may cause something unknown, such as a secret from the past, to be thrust into the spotlight, and although it will probably feel unpleasant, there will always be something positive that comes about because of it. I believe that anyone who is trying to live a good life can benefit from Pluto’s power of change.

Pluto can also cause our own subconscious energies and thoughts to be brought out into the light.

This new information, in the form of unknown secrets and newly released subconscious ideas, may be contradictory to the facts and opinions of your mind, but if you focus on how it feels, you can determine how to use or not use this new information. Often the secrets that are revealed are creating a future with more clarity.

I believe that all information is useful, and the wise person uses it wisely. For me, when I’m presented some information that seems very foreign or scary to me, I try to meditate and also concentrate on how it feels to me. Feelings are never wrong, but the information that is behind those feelings can be.

Have a great evening,
Love, Val ♥

"Woo-Woo" is wonderful

Card: No. 1 – ““Woo-Woo” is wonderful”
From: Trust Your Vibes Oracle Cards by Sonia Choquette.

“Woo-Woo” to me means having fun. And allowing yourself to have fun. Today, and every day, have a bit of fun. Laugh a bit, smile a lot, chuckle a bit and just generally try to have a good time. Life is meant to be fun and fulfilling. It’s easier to have a mind-clutter-free life if you’re having a bit of fun. There are jester spirits out there whose sole purpose is to create pockets of fun and happiness. Next time you see something that makes you laugh inside, make sure you let a bit of that through to the outside by way of a chuckle or a smile. The jesters will be there giving you these moments of levity. Acknowledge the funniness and roll with it. And thank the jesters, so that they know you enjoyed it and will bring you more moments of levity. The more you enjoy, the more you’ll have to enjoy.

Have an awesome day!
Love,
Val ♥

Worthiness

Jan 4, 2012

Card: “You don’t have to create your worth with God. That was done in God’s mind when He created you.”
From: “Enlightenment Cards”

Well, this is an interesting card to start my blog with since I don’t use the word God, and I don’t believe that God created us. I believe that above all there is “The Universe” which encompasses everything. I believe that our human life was created by our spiritual self. Now, as for where our spiritual self came from, well, that one I have no idea about. I just believe our spirit/soul “is”, always has been, and always will “be”.

The message that this card brings to us is that our worth is without limit. It is an infinite, immense value that you have. You are completely and perfectly worthy. You don’t have to prove to anyone or to The Universe that you are a worthy person. You just are.

So today, be worthy, which means – be yourself.

Have an awesome day!

Love,
Val
